Teaming up for town’s good

STALYBRIDGE Town Team has broadened the area it will tidy up in the town centre – and brought back a market.

The group of volunteers has continued making sure the area’s streets are as clean as possible, along with the site of the former town hall.

But green-fingered members have pruned trees that stand between its hub and the canal, part of the Tesco supermarket site.

That came after an agreement was struck with the store to make sure the area did not become overgrown.

It will then be landscaped, along with an area close to Stalybridge train station.

Saturday, July 24 also saw the Town Team pair up with Little Owl Events to bring an artisan market back to Armentieres Square.

Food and craft stalls attracted a steady stream of people to a town centre members commented had significantly less litter than previous months.

Details of Stalybridge Town Team’s next litter pick can be found on its Facebook page at
