Family of man who was ‘friend to many’ and ‘loved by all’ pay tribute

THE family of a man who died in Droylsden have paid tribute to him, as an enquiry into his murder continues.

Police were called at 1.10am on Friday, August 6 to Redesmere Close, Droylsden to a report of a stabbing.

Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 47-year-old man had been stabbed inside a property.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead a short while later. He has since been named as Ian Bent.

Dean Farrell (13.12.1999) of Redesmere Close, Droylsden has been charged with murder. He appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody pending his next appearance at Manchester Crown Court

Paying tribute to Ian, his family said: “Our loving father, Ian, was our everything and more. He was a friend to many and loved by all. He would have always gone above and beyond to put a smile on anyone’s face.”

“He was a brother, a father, a grandad and truly loyal friend. He had the biggest heart and made everyone happy who was around him. He was loved dearly and taken far too soon.

“We as a family, and close friends, are beyond heartbroken with his loss, and it will forever change our lives.”
