BELLE Vue were edged out 46-44 in their NDL clash with Mildenhall on Sunday afternoon, but still managed to sneak a league point from West Row for their efforts.
The Cool Running Colts provided few opportunities for the hosts to take control of the meeting and held them to within a clutch of points for the majority of the meeting.
It all came down to a last-heat decider, with only two points the difference, with Fen Tiger Jordan Jenkins holding off the challenge of Jack Smith and Harry McGurk to seal the win for the home team.
Harry McGurk continues to relish his racing, this time in the no.4 spot, top scoring for the Cool Running Colts with 13 while Connor Coles added 11+2 and Jack Smith bagging 11+1.
Team boss Steve Williams said: “We couldn’t fault the boys with the effort they put in, Mildenhall is a tough place to come to as a visiting team.
“A few of the boys were pretty unlucky. Paul was trying so hard, and he was challenging for second in one of his races before he fell.
“Even with a few of the boys out of the points, the rest were battling their hearts out to compensate, and they pulled together as a team to keep the Fen Tigers honest.
“The most we fell behind was eight points and to fight back and to push them into a last-heat decider was extremely impressive.
“Any time you can travel to an away track and steal a point is a good day’s work, but it was a very well-deserved point that these boys went home with.”
