COVID-19 cases in Tameside and all boroughs in Greater Manchester have shown a sharp fall.
In the week ending July 24, the number of infections per 100,000 stood at 476 compared to 685 the previous week.
But weekly coronavirus admissions to hospitals in Greater Manchester continued to rise.
There were 181 admissions in the week ending July 27 compared to 161 for the week ending July 20.
The number of patients in critical care stood at 58 for the week ending July 27 compared to 66 the previous week.
Covid patients, excluding critical care, in hospital for the week ending July 27 stood at 344 which was up from 322 the previous week.
