Licence application for empty unit

A STALYBRIDGE nightclub owner is behind a plan to set up a new venue in a prominent unit which has been empty since it was created.

The ground floor at the Summers Quay development in the town’s Armentieres Square has not been filled since the housing above was opened in September 2018.

Now an application has been lodged with Tameside Council to set up the business by Ohana FL Ltd.

And further checks on the company revealed it is owned by Tina Harrison, who also owns the Khaleasi venue on Market Street.

The applicant is asking for permission to open until 12.30am from Monday to Wednesday, 1.30am on Thursday and Sunday and 2am on Friday and Saturday.

She also wants to be able to serve alcohol until half an hour before closing time and be able to have live music until a similar time from Thursday-Sunday.

Public Notice at Summers Quay

The units at Summers Quay have been the subject of intense speculation and questions about why neither a coffee chain nor gym has taken them on.

Now this latest application shows signs there is interest – the former Millpond pub stood on the same site.

Consultation on it ends on June 8 before it is likely to go before Tameside Council’s speakers panel (liquor licensing) committee for approval.

  1. I wouldn’t be impressed if I was a residents to be honest. Would you ?

  2. If I was a resident there would certainly be objections (Luckily I am not)

  3. Totally unfair to open a bar under residential apartments no one wants to listen to drunken people coming out of a bar at that time also there are people who nights and you don’t children in those apartments it’s very unfair

  4. I am in agreement with the other comments , I would not be impressed if a noisy bar was under my home . If they get approval it think the local authorities should be taken to task on the matter .

  5. A very inappropriate place to be putting a licensed premises. The residents above will have there property prices reduced as no future buyers would want to live over a noisy bar/nightclub. There are far more appropriate buildings that could be used in Stalybridge foe this business idea. I’m glad I don’t live in the town. It’s far quieter on the outskirts where we are.

  6. there was a lovely bar on there The Mill Pond in a prominent position and looked and kept in keeping with the surroundings. The fact that no retailers want these properties? No way should a nightclub be under neath residential properties. The council needs to say no to this proposal .

  7. I would be very suspicious if this licence was granted.I.wonder if the new owner would like to live above the noise that will no doubt be created
