Let there be (more) light

CHRISTMAS celebrations are lighting up people’s lives after more illuminations were added.

And one house may have scooped the prize for best display after being transformed into a winter wonderland.

Locals in Audenshaw vowed to add even more decorations to the festive display they contributed to last year.

We told how people raised enough funds to both boost the lights on a Christmas tree at the Memorial Gardens and add their own illuminations. However, they were told they could not put them on display

But 12 months on, the group led by Danny Mather has come good on its vow to grow the festivities with extra lights being put up.

The only issue was there was no big switch on because of Covid-19 restrictions.

The Memorial Gardens is not the only area of Audenshaw showing signs of festive fever.

For Jamie Stirling has transformed his house into a winter wonderland, complete with giant Santa Claus.

As well as a huge light show, his driveway on Baroness Road in Audenshaw has been turned into an ice rink, complete with skating penguins.

And people can donate to the Wood Street Mission’s Mission Christmas charity, either via a box at the property or an online link.

The entire housing estate, which is based on and around Kings Road, also joined the festive fun with a Christmas event on December 6.

Tagged A December to Remember, it featured more than 25 stalls selling cakes, mince pies, gifts, as well as a toy drop for Mission Christmas.
