MOSSLEY Football Club continues to be the driving force behind the potential future development of Egmont Street Playing Fields.
It intends to set up a community interest company to move the exciting project forward which could entail the installation of a 3G pitch and transforming the boarded up changing rooms into a community space and café.Town councillor Stephen Homer gave an update to the last meeting of the town council.
He reported it was still early days, but the football club had a vision for the site which they want to be a base for the football club and its junior teams so they do not have to train outside the town.
Mossley Juniors have also expressed a desire to be involved in the project.
Cllr Homer explained that formation of a community interest company, which would have a board probably comprising members of the football club, Tameside and Mossley councillors, was the next step. That would assist in the bid to secure funding to transform the playing fields into a community hub.
The various parties recently were given the keys so they could look inside the abandoned changing rooms.
Once inside, they were able to see the extend of the work which needs to be done to refurbish them.
