STALYBRIDGE Celtic Juniors will be paying their own personal tribute to the frontline National Health Service workers during the 2020-21 season.
When the Under-12s failed to find a kit sponsor, they asked for design ideas for the front of the shirts.
And the aunt of one of the players came up with a striking concept featuring the NHS logo, a rainbow and football.
Since the design was submitted, however, the team, which will be U13s next season, has found a new kit sponsor, Manchester Property Group.
Instead of being displayed on the front of the shirt, the logo will instead be on the sleeves.
And it has been so well received that it might be displayed on the shirt sleeves of the club’s other age groups.
The U12s were enjoying a hugely successful season before lockdown.
They had become North West champions in the FA Pokemon Youth Futsal Cup.
Next was the northern final to be held at Sunderland, but that has been postponed and possibly may never take place.
The U12s also won the division two title in the Manchester Youth and Mini Soccer League’s winter season.
Manager Adam Rawson explained he is proud of the achievements of the team, saying he has worked with most of the players since the age of four when they attended the club’s soccer school.
They began playing league football from U7s and since then achieved great success.
He added the success has been achieved collectively as a team, though he singled out captain and central defender Joe Lutman, explaining he has had an “amazing” season.
