90K challenge to raise funds

GENEROUS Stalybridge Celtic fans have contributed almost £5,000 to the Bower Fold club since lockdown.

Club officials have been overwhelmed by the support from supporters. An initial appeal for financial help saw £1,300 given in donations.

That was followed by the club setting up a JustGiving page with a further £1,800 given.

And on top of that club secretary Andrew Betts has raised £1,500 by organising two football cards.

Andrew said: “We would like to thank all the fans for contributing what they can in these difficult times. We have no income and anything they give is a big help.

“It shows how big a community we have at Stalybridge Celtic and hopefully we will see everyone again at Bower Fold in the near future.”

STALYBRIDGE Celtic Ladies are nearing the end of their own fundraising initiative.

Ten players are taking part in a 90K challenge during the month of May.

They will be either cycling or running that distance during the month to try and raise the £500 running costs for next season.

The majority are cycling and they completed 90K by May 12, but pledged to carry on until the end of the month to see how much further they could pedal.

You can sponsor the women on their crowdfunding page: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/stalybridge-celtic-ladies
