Milton St John’s Primary closes temporarily after Covid-19 case

MILTON St John’s Primary School has been shut following a confirmed case of Covid-19, Tameside Council has confirmed.

The Mossley school had, like many others in the borough and nationally, been open for the children of key workers and others classed as vulnerable.

A Tameside Council spokesperson said: “There is a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Milton St John’s Primary School.

“The school has temporarily closed while, following advice from Public Health England (PHE), it does a detailed risk assessment to identify which staff and pupils need to self-isolate and which can return to school while remaining vigilant for symptoms, according to PHE’s guidance.

“The council’s Population Health and Education teams are working closely to support the school at this time and are liaising with PHE to ensure that all the most up to date advice is being followed.”

Headteacher Lisa Gallaher was unable to comment telling The Correspondent she had been advised to direct enquiries to Tameside Council’s communications department.
