Investigation after Denton car incident

A MAN has been released under police investigation after a pedestrian was allegedly driven at by a car in Denton.The 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries after an incident on Bowden Street, close to the town’s old swimming pool and Victoria Park.

It is alleged that just before midnight on Sunday, May 17, a car collided with a man after reportedly being driven towards him.

A 35-year-old-man was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of Section 18 assault. However, as The Correspondent went to press, charges have not yet been issued.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “At about 11.55pm on Sunday, May 17, police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Bowden Street, Denton.

“Officers attended and a 25-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he remains with minor injuries.

“A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. The suspect has been released under investigation.”
