HAUGHTON Green has been captured in all its glory for an entire year after the production of a new calendar.Local photographer Danny McKay has captured scenes from the area, with a bit of help from Councillor George Newton, who has been working on putting it into production.
There is also a nod to Haughton Green’s history with the involvement of historian Margaret Smethurst – who also took photos along with husband John – as all 12 months are accompanied by a wonderful image.
It also has a serious side as all profits will be donated to the foodbank at St Mary’s Church, the oldest such facility in Tameside.
Cllr Newton said: “It’s been wonderful working with Margaret and Danny to put together this calendar.
“The Foodbank in Haughton Green is always busiest around Christmas, so I’m really hoping we’ll be able to raise much needed funds to support the volunteers throughout the festive period.”
The calendar is on sale for a ‘minimum £5 donation’ and several outlets will stock it, including The Village Card Shop, Cleopatra’s, Haughton Green Conservative and Social Club and The Little Chap pub.
They will also be available at the Christmas market that is taking place at the Oasis Centre, Tatton Road, on Friday, December 13.
