ASHTON town centre is preparing for a Halloween celebration with free pumpkins, theatrical characters and family activities on Saturday, October 31.
The Not So Scary Halloween event will take place between 11am and 2pm, organised by Tameside Markets in partnership with Ladysmith Shopping Centre and Ashton Town Team.
Characters from Mossley’s No Eyed Theatre will be roaming the town centre, including The Captain, who will be strutting around the market, and a mysterious witch offering apples to unsuspecting visitors.
Families who approach the characters will have the chance to receive a token for a free face mask, which can be collected inside Ashton Market Hall.
Pumpkin-carving demonstrations will also take place, offering inspiration for those looking to create their own Halloween designs.
Meanwhile, the Pumpkin Man will be wandering around Ladysmith Shopping Centre, handing out tokens which can be exchanged for a free pumpkin at the Market Hall.
The pumpkins will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limited number released during each hour of the event.
The three-hour celebration aims to bring some light-hearted Halloween fun to the town centre, giving families an opportunity to enjoy free activities while visiting local shops and market traders.
