A COMEDY about six actors, six different Shakespeare plays and one very confused audience is coming to Guide Bridge Theatre.
Doing Shakespeare, starring former Coronation Street actor Steven Arnold, is being staged at the Audenshaw Road venue for two shows this weekend.
Written by David Spicer, the award-winning farce turns the traditional Shakespearean production on its head, with a disastrous mix-up threatening to derail opening night.
The story follows six actors who arrive on show day ready to perform Shakespeare, only to discover that a communication breakdown has left each of them learning a completely different play.
Rather than admit defeat and call off the performance, they decide to carry on regardless, convinced the audience will never notice anything is wrong.

What follows is a chaotic mash-up of mismatched scenes, confused entrances and exits, and theatrical mishaps, blending the works of the Bard with the fast-paced comedy associated with Morecambe and Wise.
The production promises plenty of laughs for Shakespeare enthusiasts and those who would struggle to name one of his plays alike.
Steven is best known for playing Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, a role he held for 15 years before his character was killed off in the soap’s 50th-anniversary tram crash storyline in 2010.
The show takes place at Guide Bridge Theatre on Audenshaw Road (postcode M34 5HJ) at 3pm and 7.30pm this Saturday, October 31.
Tickets for both performances are available to buy online here.
