TRACTORS will be rolling through the local area this weekend as Mottram and District Agricultural Society’s Tractor Run returns.
A convoy of tractors will hit the streets, with people across the borough and beyond invited to head out and watch the spectacle.
Spectators can watch the Tractor Run for free, with families encouraged to gather at Mottram Showground before the tractors set off.
Tractors are expected to begin arriving at the showground on Apple Street (postcode SK14 3AT) from around 9.15am, before the Tractor Run gets under way at 10am.
The convoy is then expected to arrive at Lymefield Garden Centre at around 12.30pm, giving spectators another opportunity to see the tractors as they pass through the area.
Organisers have warned that some parts of the route will use quieter roads and lanes, meaning the full convoy will not be visible throughout the journey.
For the best chance of seeing the tractors together, spectators are being encouraged to head to Mottram Showground before the 10am departure, or meet the convoy at Lymefield at around 12.30pm.
The timings are approximate and could be affected by traffic, weather and other conditions.
As well as providing a day out for tractor enthusiasts and families, the event is also helping to raise money towards next year’s Mottram Shows.
Collection buckets will be available at both Mottram Showground and Lymefield for anyone who would like to make a donation.
The Mottram and District Agricultural Society is run entirely by volunteers and has been organising the Mottram Shows since 1904.
Money raised from the Tractor Run will help the society build on this year’s show and put plans in place for the 2027 events.
It’s not too late for tractor owners to get involved.
Tractors of all ages and makes are welcome to take part, with entry costing £10 per tractor, payable on the day.
The society is also looking for people who would like to get involved with the 2027 shows, whether by volunteering or helping with the organisation.
