Open day to showcase support for young people with additional needs

Parents, carers and professionals are being invited to find out more about a Greater Manchester education service which supports young people with special educational needs and additional needs.

On The Streets Education will hold an open day on Wednesday, September 30, from 11.30am until 2pm at Sacred Heart Church on Levenshulme Road in Gorton.

The organisation works with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as other additional needs, with a focus on overcoming barriers, building confidence and helping them achieve their potential.

The event is open to parents and carers as well as teachers, SENCOs, social workers, referrers, practitioners, partners and commissioners.

Visitors will be able to meet the team, tour the learning environment and see some of the organisation’s projects in action.

Young people will also be involved in activities during the day, while staff will provide information about the support available for those with SEMH needs, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other additional needs.

There will also be an opportunity to learn about referral pathways and potential partnerships with the organisation.

On The Streets Education describes its approach as person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed, with the aim of helping young people regain confidence and move towards a positive future.

Refreshments will be available and the event is open to all.
