HATTERSLEY residents are being asked what they want to see change in their community, with a new board helping shape plans for a £20 million investment in the area.
The Hattersley Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board has launched a public survey and programme of community events, giving local people the chance to share their views and help decide what should be prioritised.
The board brings together representatives from the community, business and voluntary sectors, with the aim of ensuring local voices are at the heart of future plans.
Residents will be able to meet board members, learn more about the Pride in Place programme and suggest projects that could make a difference to everyday life in Hattersley.
The programme is designed to help communities identify their priorities and develop projects that benefit residents, businesses and visitors. For Hattersley, it presents an opportunity to secure investment that reflects the ambitions of local people.
Laura Nicholas, Chair of the Hattersley Pride in Place Board, said: “One of the strengths of our board is that it brings together people from across the Hattersley community who all share the same goal, making this a place where people can thrive and feel proud to call home.”

She added: “Now that the board is fully in place, our priority is simple: to listen. We want to hear from residents, businesses, community groups and young people about what they love about Hattersley, what challenges they see and what opportunities they would like us to explore.”
“The £20m funding available through Pride in Place presents a real opportunity for our community, but it’s important that local people help shape how that opportunity is used. That is why we are inviting everyone to meet the board, complete the survey and share their ideas. The more people who get involved, the stronger our vision for Hattersley’s future will be.”
One of the first opportunities to get involved will be the Hattersley Outdoor Cinema at Active Ken Ward, Hattersley Road East, on Saturday, September 19.
The free event will open at 12.30pm, with screenings of Monsters, Inc. and School of Rock. Food, refreshments, stalls and children’s activities will also be available, with local community groups and Hattersley FC attending.
The board is encouraging residents to complete the survey, attend an engagement event or speak directly to members about their ideas. The survey closes on Sunday, October 4.
Residents can find the Hattersley Pride in Place Community Survey and more information about the programme on Tameside Council’s Hattersley Pride in Place webpage.
