EXPECTANT parents and growing families will be able to pick up practical baby-care tips, meet local support services and win a £50 Boots voucher at a series of free events across Tameside.
The first of four Baby Showers takes place at West Family Hub in Droylsden on Wednesday, (September 9), with families invited to drop in between 4.30pm and 7pm.
The events are being organised by Tameside’s Family Hubs and will give parents-to-be and new families the chance to ask questions, build confidence and find out what support is available locally.
Advice will cover early bonding, breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact and perinatal mental wellbeing, while organisations including midwives, health visitors, Dad Matters and Be Well will be on hand to speak to families.
Visitors will also be able to take part in interactive activities and baby-care demonstrations, including bathing, changing and settling a baby doll. There will be giveaways, and everyone attending will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Boots voucher.
The remaining Baby Showers will take place at:
- November 19, 2026: North Family Hub, Ashton-under-Lyne
- January 21, 2027: East Family Hub, Stalybridge
- March 17, 2027: South Family Hub, Hyde
Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Children and Families, Councillor Teresa Smith, said: “The Baby Showers are a great opportunity for expectant parents and new families to access advice, support and information from local services. These free events will help families build confidence, make connections and prepare for their baby’s arrival.
“Tameside Family Hubs provide a wide range of free support for families throughout the week, alongside activities for babies and young children. We’re here to support parents every step of the way.”
The borough’s Family Hubs provide services from four main centres in Ashton-under-Lyne, Droylsden, Stalybridge and Hyde, alongside smaller locations in other towns.
