A COSTA Coffee drive-thru has now opened its doors at a major new retail park in Hattersley.
The coffee chain has opened its latest branch at Hattersley Trade Park, close to the junction of Ashworth Lane and Stockport Road opposite Hattersley Hub.
The new Costa is open from 5am until 10pm every day, giving early-morning commuters and local residents another option for coffee, breakfast and refreshments.
Its arrival is the latest milestone for the new Hattersley development, which has transformed a long-vacant brownfield site.
The 57,000 sq ft Hattersley Trade Park was constructed by Britcon on behalf of Maple Grove Developments and Onward Homes, with the wider scheme expected to create more than 100 jobs.
The 5.5-acre site had stood vacant for around 15 years before work began on the development.
An Aldi supermarket has also been confirmed as part of the scheme, alongside eight modern trade counter units ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 sq ft.
The development includes 179 customer parking spaces and an ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hub delivered in partnership with Be.EV.
The scheme has been described as an important step towards creating the district centre for Hattersley that Tameside Council has been seeking for more than a decade.
Plans were first put in motion in 2015, with Maple Grove Developments brought on board the following year. The proposals were subsequently reworked, with securing Aldi as an anchor retailer marking a key stage in the development.

With Costa now open, and Aldi and others to follow in due course, the development represents a significant change for a site that had remained unused for years.
