A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy from Denton is preparing to take on the challenge of climbing Snowdon to raise money for people affected by homelessness.
Young fundraiser Freddie will tackle the Welsh mountain with his family on Saturday, September 19, in support of local charity Emmaus Mossley.
Freddie, who enjoys taking on a challenge, decided he wanted to do something positive to help people experiencing homelessness after learning more about the issue.
He said: “It makes me sad to see homeless people and I wanted to help in any way I could.”
After choosing Emmaus Mossley as the charity he wanted to support, Freddie and his family visited its residential community in the Tame Valley.
The charity provides accommodation and support for people who have experienced homelessness, with room for up to 26 residents at any one time.
Freddie’s fundraising challenge has already got off to an impressive start. He originally set himself a target of £500 but smashed it in just four days. He has now increased his fundraising goal to £1,000 as he prepares for his climb.
The money raised will contribute towards plans to improve the charity’s community building and facilities.
Darren, one of the residents supported by Emmaus, said: “Freddie’s support is an outstanding piece of generosity. The money raised will go towards our building and living areas which need some TLC. A huge thanks to our little super-hero and all who support his fundraiser for Emmaus.”
Emmaus Mossley is approaching a significant milestone, with 2027 marking its 30th anniversary, and has plans to further develop its facilities and the support it provides.

Freddie is now hoping more people will get behind his Snowdon challenge and help him reach his new £1,000 target.
