ERIN Ogden has every right to be philosophical about her GCSE results – while being elated too,
Form the Mossley Hollins High School pupil will study Philosophy at Ashton Sixth Form College after gaining great grades.
After opening the fateful envelope surrounded by parents Martin and Sue, it was all smiles when she saw grades seven and eight all around – the equivalent of A and Bs.
Now she is looking towards going along the legal route at university, now she can calm down.
“I’ve done okay, pretty good,” said Erin, who comes from Mossley, modestly.
“When I opened the envelope, I did the subjects one at a time to process each one at once.
“That was definitely easier than just looking them all and just being confused on where each one was.
“Mossley Hollins definitely helped improve me in some of these subjects. For some, I was like, ‘I definitely didn’t expect to get that.’
“Now I’m going to Ashton to study History, Law, Philosophy, Ethics and Religion – the last tree being one subject.
“I have an idea of doing Law at university, but it’s not solid yet. That’s an idea and I’m thinking about a career in law in future.”
Now pupils are settling down after learning how they did, Erin can maybe look back at how she felt before opening the envelope and wonder why.
She added: “I was very, very nervous. When I opened the envelope and saw the numbers, I was just like, ‘Wow.’”
