A MOSSLEY dance school is celebrating an outstanding debut at the Dance World Cup after securing seven top 10 finishes while representing Team England on the world stage.
Kirsten’s Dance Academy, based at Woodend Mill, travelled to Dublin after qualifying seven troupe routines and a song and dance duet for the prestigious international competition.
The academy’s biggest success came in the Mini Large Group Showstopper category, where The Flintstones achieved an impressive third place in the world.
Other standout results included:
- No Man’s Land – Senior Large Group Showstopper: 4th in the world
- Imposter – Children Large Group Showstopper: 5th in the world
- Cherubini – Mini Large Group Lyrical: 6th in the world
- The Wild Party – Senior Large Group Jazz: 6th in the world
- Zodiac – Children Large Group Lyrical: 8th in the world
- Fitnesse – Junior Large Group Showstopper: 10th in the world
The results cap off a remarkable first appearance at the Dance World Cup for the academy, whose Elite Team is made up of 84 dancers aged between three and 18.
There was further cause for celebration as Team England topped the overall medal table at the competition, finishing with 113 gold, 146 silver and 151 bronze medals to be crowned overall champions.
Ahead of the competition, principal Kirsten Swift said representing Team England on the international stage was a proud moment for the academy, with dancers and their families excited to showcase their talent while flying the flag for both Mossley and the country.
The Dance World Cup is regarded as one of the world’s largest all-genre dance competitions, bringing together thousands of young performers from countries across the globe.
