M67 closed after apparent discovery of human remains

A TAMESIDE motorway has been closed after the apparent discovery of human remains next to it.

Road workers are said to have found a body close to a bridge between junctions three and four of the M67, between Hyde and Hattersley, on the evening of Monday, August 3.

The M67 has been closed between Hyde and Hattersley following the apparent discovery of human remains.

As a result, that stretch of carriageway has been closed while detectives from Greater Manchester Police investigate – they believe they have identified the suspected remains.

Officers were called shortly after 11pm by the road workers who made the discovery and a spokesperson said investigations are at an ‘extremely early stage.’

GMP says it is working with specialist teams to understand the circumstances behind this incident.

And motorists have been advised to avoid the area while the closure is in place.
