Droylsden Little Theatre invites community to Summer Fun Day packed with family entertainment

Droylsden Little Theatre (DLT) is set to welcome families, local businesses and community groups for a fun-filled Summer Fun Day on Sunday 9 August, offering entertainment, activities and fundraising opportunities for all ages.

The event will take place from 10am to 3pm at Droylsden Little Theatre, M43 7AS, with organisers promising a packed programme designed to bring the local community together while supporting the long-standing theatre.

One of the highlights of the day will be the Children’s Storytime sessions, taking place in the theatre auditorium from 10.30am to 11am and 1pm to 1.30pm. Every child attending a Storytime session will also receive a free ice cream as part of their ticket.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of stalls, family-friendly games, a tombola and a large cake stall throughout the day.

First Great DLT Bake Off launches

The Summer Fun Day will also feature the theatre’s first-ever Great DLT Bake Off, with local bakers invited to showcase their culinary talents.

From traditional Victoria sponge cakes to cupcakes, traybakes and brownies, entrants will compete for the title of DLT Star Baker. Visitors will have the chance to sample the entries and cast their votes before the winner is crowned.

Those who do not wish to enter the competition are still encouraged to support the event by donating cakes, biscuits and other homemade treats to be sold on the main cake stall.

Call for community support

Ahead of the event, Droylsden Little Theatre is appealing for support from residents, businesses and local organisations.

The theatre is inviting local traders, crafters, charities and community groups to book stalls or run family-friendly games during the day.

Organisers are also looking to borrow a marquee or gazebo to help provide shelter should the weather prove unpredictable, while donations are being sought for the tombola. Suitable prizes include unused gifts, bottles, chocolates, toiletries and experience vouchers.

Funds raised during the Summer Fun Day will go directly towards supporting Droylsden Little Theatre and helping to ensure community theatre and local arts continue to thrive in the area.
