Droylsden mum’s journey leads to national award recognition

A Droylsden business owner who overcame domestic abuse, homelessness and financial hardship has been named a finalist in multiple categories at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2026.

Justina Pralgauskaite, founder of wellness business GlowTina, received the recognition just a year after living in temporary accommodation while caring for her autistic son and rebuilding her life.

Last year, Justina was living in temporary accommodation with her son, facing significant personal challenges while trying to create a better future for her family.

A year later, she has been shortlisted for national recognition through her business, which she built from her home in Droylsden.

Speaking about her journey, Justina said: “There were days when I felt completely lost. Days when my focus wasn’t on dreams or business plans. It was simply getting through the day and making sure my son was okay.”

With limited resources, Justina began developing GlowTina, offering massage, facials, body sculpting and wellbeing treatments. Her son, who is autistic, became her motivation to keep moving forward through difficult circumstances.

Today, the business has built a loyal client base, with many customers seeking both wellbeing treatments and a supportive environment.

The recognition at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards marks a significant milestone in Justina’s journey.

She said: “People see the finalist announcement. They don’t always see the nights spent crying, the fear, the uncertainty, or the times I wanted to give up. This nomination means so much because it represents every obstacle that didn’t win.”

While proud of her achievement, Justina says her ambitions extend beyond awards and business success.

Looking to the future, she hopes to create a dedicated wellness space, provide opportunities for others and support women who are rebuilding their lives after difficult experiences.

She added: “If sharing my story helps even one person believe that their current situation doesn’t have to be their final chapter, then it will have been worth it.”
