A HYDE care home has welcomed local people to enjoy the excitement of the men’s World Cup.
Hatton Grange in Oldham Street invited the community to join residents and staff for England’s opening match against Croatia, which ended in a thrilling 4-2 win.
The social event, as part of Care Home Open Week, was designed to create a welcoming space for people who may otherwise have watched the game alone, bringing everyone together to enjoy the atmosphere, conversation and shared experience of a major sporting occasion.
The home joined others run by Anchor in organising the celebrations, as part of the housing and care provider’s Year of Culture programme.
Delivered in partnership with NAPA Activities, it aims to reduce loneliness and create more opportunities for meaningful social connections.
Residents at Hatton Grange are also taking part in a World Cup-style sweepstake, representing different competing nations.
Throughout the tournament, homes will continue to celebrate their chosen countries through themed activities – including food, music and cultural events.
