Final chance to secure share of £1.5m fund for Tameside community projects

COMMUNITY groups, residents and local organisations across Tameside are being invited to put forward ideas for projects that could transform neighbourhood spaces.

The final round of a £1.5 million regeneration fund is open for applications.

The latest funding window for the Pride in Place Impact Fund will close on July 31, offering support for projects that improve public spaces, community facilities and town centres across the borough.

The fund is designed to back schemes that leave a lasting legacy, with investment focused on physical improvements rather than ongoing running costs.

Projects could include breathing new life into underused community buildings, upgrading parks and play areas, improving lighting and street furniture, or enhancing local high streets and market areas.

With part of the funding already allocated, this is expected to be one of the last opportunities for communities to secure a share of the remaining money before the programme concludes in March 2027.

The fund sits alongside wider investment already secured for Tameside, including £20 million in long-term Pride in Place funding earmarked for Ashton and Hattersley over the next decade. As a result, this round will focus on supporting projects in the borough’s other towns and neighbourhoods.

Tameside Council says the programme is intended to give local communities greater influence over how their areas develop, encouraging residents and organisations to identify projects that matter most to them.

Councillor Eleanor Wills, the council’s Executive Leader, said: “The Pride in Place Impact Fund is about listening to residents and giving communities a real voice in shaping the places they care about.

“This final funding round is another chance for people to come forward with ideas that can make a lasting difference, whether that’s improving a valued community space, investing in a park, or bringing new life to a local high street.”

Groups and residents interested in applying can submit proposals online at www.tameside.gov.uk/impactfund and are also encouraged to register their interest with the council’s policy team by emailing policy@tameside.gov.uk before making an application.

Successful projects will need to deliver visible improvements that help strengthen communities and boost pride in local neighbourhoods for years to come.
