A SHOPPING centre in Ashton-under-Lyne is asking the public to help choose which local charity it will support over the next year.
Ladysmith Shopping Centre has officially opened nominations for its Charity of the Year partnership for 2026/2027.
Shoppers and residents are invited to put forward organisations making a difference across Tameside and beyond.
The chosen charity will work alongside the shopping centre on a programme of fundraising events, awareness campaigns and community activities aimed at boosting both donations and visibility.
Speaking about the launch of this year’s search, Centre Manager Ian Pratt said: “We’re incredibly honoured to have worked with a range of amazing charities at Ladysmith over the last few years, including The Anthony Seddon Fund and Willow Wood Hospice.
“I’d like to invite the community to nominate a local charity they would like to see us supporting throughout 2026/2027.”
The centre’s current partnership has been with The Anthony Seddon Fund, which was established in 2014 in memory of Anthony Seddon, who struggled with bipolar disorder and died in 2013.
The charity provides support for people experiencing mental health challenges by offering a safe space where visitors can talk openly, socialise and access help.
During its time working with Ladysmith Shopping Centre, the charity has received almost £3,000 in donations, while also engaging with hundreds of shoppers through events held at the centre.
People wanting to nominate a charity can do so through the shopping centre’s website or social media channels.
