A MENTAL health charity in Ashton-under-Lyne has received a major boost after a £10,000 donation from local MP Angela Rayner.
The contribution was presented during a visit to The Anthony Seddon Fund, which supports people living with long-term mental health conditions and works on suicide prevention across the borough.
Ms Rayner, who represents the Ashton-under-Lyne constituency in Parliament, said the organisation plays a vital role in supporting some of the area’s most vulnerable residents.

“The Anthony Seddon Fund does incredible work with some of my most vulnerable constituents,” she said.
“I was delighted to raise £10,000 for the charity after a recent speaking engagement. I also popped a message of encouragement into their post-box.”
The charity also shared its appreciation following the visit, describing the donation as arriving at a particularly challenging time.
Ben James, General Manager at The Anthony Seddon Fund, said the funding would make a tangible difference as demand for support continues to grow.
“It was a great honour to welcome local MP Angela Rayner to The Anthony Seddon Fund and receive a donation of £10,000,” he told The Correspondent.
“This was a welcome donation that was received at what can be a difficult time for charities, with rising costs and less donations being received.
“With the increasing need of mental health support for members of the public, this money will help us to continue to provide peer support for those living with long-term mental health conditions and suicide prevention support. Thank you to Angela and the team.”
The charity, based on George Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, provides a range of peer support services and a safe space for people experiencing mental health difficulties.
