OLYMPIC gold medallist Rebecca Adlington is ready to get Droylsden Swim!-ming with a new pool.
The Correspondent revealed in January the woman who topped the podium twice at Beijing in 2008 is one of the people behind the new development at the retail park on the town’s Greenside Lane.
And Rebecca, who also won two bronze medals in London four years later, will be on hand to open the doors to the new facility.

Work has already started on converting what was the Bright House store at Droylsden Retail Park in a project costing more than £1 million, which has a tentative opening date in June.
And in a pre-opening offer, parents registering interest at www.swim.co.uk/Droylsden can secure their child’s first month of lessons for just £10. However, spaces are limited.
Facilities will include a child-friendly pool heated to 31 degrees, an air-conditioned viewing gallery, plentiful free parking and spacious changing rooms.
The new venue is projected to create up to 50 jobs, including management, operational staff, and swimming instructors.
Lessons will be available seven days a week and will cater for children aged 3–11 years of all abilities, also babies and toddlers aged 0–3.
Founded by Rebecca and fellow Olympic swimmer, Steve Parry, after identifying a shortage in quality swim lesson provision across UK towns, Swim! Droylsden will mark the company’s 14th purpose-built UK venue and its fifth in the North West.
The brand also delivers lessons in 30 schools, colleges, and community venues nationwide.
Rebecca said: “Ensuring as many children as possible have access to swimming lessons is an absolute priority of mine, and I’m really excited to see planning granted for our Droylsden site.
“We’ll be offering much-needed learn-to-swim opportunities to children across Droylsden and beyond.
“We’re confident our lessons will be the best in the Manchester area, and we can’t wait to welcome families on their swimming journey with us.”
