AN EVENING of live music is set to take centre stage at a major Manchester venue in aid of a Tameside-based charity.
The Anthony Seddon Fund is preparing to host its first-ever Battle of the Bands event.
Taking place on Thursday, April 23, at the BACKSTAGE CLUB inside Co-op Live, it will see four emerging local acts – The Drop Jonnies, Sugar for the Bee, STRANGE WOMAN and MOLI – go head-to-head in a night of live performances.
With an audience vote deciding the winner, prizes include exclusive studio time at the venue.
All proceeds will go directly towards supporting the charity’s work across Tameside and Greater Manchester, where it provides peer support, crisis help and bereavement services for those affected by suicide.
Jason Bromley, the charity’s community engagement coordinator, said the event represents a powerful collaboration between local organisations and young people.
“We’re incredibly proud to be working in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and the Year 2 Event Management Students (Blend Events), to bring this awesome event to the people of Manchester,” he said.
“Not only does it showcase amazing local talent, but it brings our community together to support mental health in a powerful and positive way.”
Doors will open at 6:15pm, with performances starting from 7pm. Tickets are priced from £12, which include a voting slip, and are available here.
The Anthony Seddon Fund, based on George Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, was founded in 2014, just over a year after Anthony’s death, and has become a vital resource for those facing mental health challenges.
