Community unites for fundraising football day to support young family

A community fundraiser is being organised to support a young family after a mum’s devastating cancer diagnosis.

The football and family fun day will take place on Sunday, April 26 at 4pm at Avro Football Club in Oldham, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm.

The event is being held in support of Chloe Wilkinson from Ashton-under-Lyne, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2025.

Despite undergoing two surgeries, the cancer has spread to other areas, including her lower spine, leaving her in severe pain.

Chloe is currently receiving chemotherapy to help maintain her quality of life and has spent much of the past few months in hospital as doctors work to manage her symptoms.

Her husband Luke continues to work full-time while caring for Chloe and their two young sons, Harrison and Clark.

Family and friends have come together to organise the fundraiser, aiming to raise money to support the family and help them create lasting memories during an incredibly difficult time.

The event will include a football match alongside a family fun day, with organisers hoping to include activities such as bouncy castles, face painting, raffles, food, sweet treats and entertainment.

Support for the family has already begun, with fundraising efforts including a GoFundMe page, sponsored challenges and community-led events.

Organisers say they are calling on local businesses and residents to get involved, whether by donating prizes, offering services or attending on the day to show their support.
