Stalybridge schoolchildren to receive vital first aid training

A STALYBRIDGE primary school will see its pupils become trained in first aid, thanks to a firm’s funding.

Many of the 240 children who attend Stalyhill Junior, on Hereford Way, will take part in a hands-on session on Monday, March 16.

They will gain practical CPR experience, confidence to respond calmly in an emergency, an understanding of how to call for help and awareness of how their actions can protect family, friends and members of the community.

The training – enabled by funding from Sunbelt Rentals as part of a community initiative to equip young people with practical lifesaving skills – will be delivered by New Forest First Aid Training.

Pupils will get the opportunity to learn essential first aid techniques including CPR, the recovery position, DR ABC (Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation) and how to respond effectively in an emergency.

A spokesperson from Stalyhill Junior School said: “We are incredibly grateful to Sunbelt Rentals for gifting this invaluable Mini Medics first aid training to our pupils in Years 3 and 6.

“Learning essential first aid skills at such a young age builds confidence, responsibility and a sense of care for others.

“Our children are looking forward to the sessions, we hope for them to come away feeling empowered to help in real life situations.”

James Osborne, co-owner of New Forest First Aid Training, added: “New Forest First Aid Training incredibly grateful to Sunbelt Rentals for their support in making this training possible.

“Partnerships like this allow us to bring essential lifesaving skills into schools and empower young people with the confidence to help in an emergency.

“We’re excited to be working with the students at Stalyhill Junior School and helping them learn practical first aid skills that could one day save a life.

“It’s inspiring to see businesses and schools coming together to invest in the safety and confidence of the next generation.”
