VOLUNTEERS in Hollingworth are preparing to give their village a spruce-up as part of this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
The Friends of Hollingworth are hosting two community litter picks, inviting residents of all ages to get involved and help freshen up local streets and green spaces.
The events take place on Saturday, March 7, and Saturday, March 21, with people wishing to get involved asked to meet at 11am at Hollingworth Playground, which can be accessed from Water Lane and Highfield Gardens.
All equipment will be provided, making it easy for people to turn up and take part.
The clean-ups form part of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy, which encourages communities across the country to tackle litter and take pride in their local area.
Organisers say even half an hour can make a difference, with every bag of rubbish collected helping to improve the look and feel of the village.
The sessions are family friendly and open to everyone, offering a chance to meet neighbours, get some fresh air and support a shared cause.
Afterwards, volunteers can head to the Cosy Café on Market Street, where tea, coffee and toast will be available until 2pm.
The Friends of Hollingworth, a group of local residents, organise regular events throughout the year aimed at bringing people together and strengthening community spirit.
