A new comedy promising humour, staff‑room squabbles and a touch of romance is heading to Guide Bridge Theatre next month as the Audenshaw venue stages What I Did At School Today.
The production, written by John Mee and directed by John O’Brien, lifts the lid on life inside a struggling primary school where a self‑interested headteacher, a weary all‑female staff team and a newly arrived supply teacher collide in spectacular fashion.
The arrival of the handsome newcomer not only disrupts the daily routine but also rekindles an unexpected connection with a former university love.
Set entirely in the school staffroom, the play blends quick‑fire comedy with workplace tensions, making it a relatable watch for anyone who has ever worked in a school – or simply enjoyed a good character‑driven farce.
The show contains mild swearing and innuendo and is recommended for adults and older teens.
Performances run from Monday, March 9 to Saturday, March 14, including a Saturday matinee.
With Friday evening already close to selling out, the theatre is encouraging early booking.
