GORTON and Denton’s Communist League candidate believes the forthcoming by-election is a chance for workers to seize political power.
Hugo Wils is one of 11 standing in the February 26 poll, seen by some as a battle between left and right and billed by the Green Party as hope v hate.
And the 48-year-old aerospace worker – a member of the Unite trade union – believes what he sees as a march towards another world war is built on doing working people down.

Mr Wils opened his campaign by joining the solidarity picket with striking refuse workers in Birmingham.
And he simply says in his leaflet: “Workers need to take political power,” describing it as the ‘only way to prevent another world war.’
“Build a revolutionary working-class party. Defend living standards, jobs and working conditions. Build trade unions. Solidarity with union fights.”
Mr Wils added: “The march to another world war is a giant attack on the desire of working people to live in peace – and on our living standards, jobs and working conditions.
“Only the working class can prevent another global slaughter by taking political power into our own hands.
“These are the central issues, not media hype on the turmoil within and between Labour, Conservative, Reform, Greens and other capitalist parties.”
Mr Wils is one of 11 candidates standing in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
