Residents in Gorton and Denton are being reminded of key deadlines if they intend to vote in the forthcoming parliamentary by‑election.
The by‑election, which will elect a new MP for the constituency, will take place on Thursday, February 26.
Gorton and Denton covers the Manchester wards of Burnage, Levenshulme, Longsight and Gorton & Abbey Hey, along with the Tameside wards of Denton South, Denton North West, and parts of Audenshaw and Denton North East.
Anyone not already on the electoral register will be unable to vote unless they register by Tuesday, February 10. Residents who have recently moved are urged to ensure they are registered at their current address.
Registering to vote is quick and straightforward. Those not yet registered can visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote (gov.uk in Bing). Applicants will need their date of birth and National Insurance number.
Residents already on the register at their current address do not need to take any further action.
Voters who are registered can choose to vote by post or appoint a proxy.
- Postal vote applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, February 11.
- Proxy vote applications must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday, February 18.
