Libraries in Tameside open doors to wellbeing support

TAMESIDE’S libraries are putting health and wellbeing in the spotlight this week.

They are inviting residents to connect with local support services and take time out for themselves during this year’s Health Information Week.

Visitors will be able to speak directly with representatives from groups including NHS Tameside and Glossop Talking Therapies, Healthwatch, Tameside Macular Society Support Group, Home-Start, and the Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group, among others.

Health Information Week, which runs from January 19 to 25, is a multi-sector campaign focused on helping people access reliable, high-quality health information and make informed choices about their wellbeing.

Alongside the Health Fair, libraries across the borough will host relaxed jigsaw and mindful colouring sessions aimed at adults. Designed to encourage calm, focus and a chance to switch off, the sessions will run at several locations throughout the week:

Wednesday, January 21: Stalybridge Library, 1pm to 4pm

Thursday, January 22: Hattersley Library, 1pm to 4pm

Friday, January 23: Droylsden Library, 1pm to 4pm

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, Councillor Leanne Feeley, said: “The Health Fair is a fantastic opportunity to connect with local groups and make informed decisions.

“I encourage everyone to visit our libraries during Health Information Week to access this valuable, reliable information and manage your physical and mental wellbeing through the sessions.”

Residents who would like more information about the events can email information.direct@tameside.gov.uk or call 0161 342 4000 (option 1).
