New monthly doctor-led walks launch in Tameside

RESIDENTS across Tameside are being invited to lace up their walking shoes and start the new year on the right foot.

A new initiative called ‘Walk with a Doc’ is being launched by Dr Nita Taylor, from Grosvenor Medical Centre in Stalybridge.

She will lead monthly walks around Stamford Park as a way for people of all ages and abilities to connect with others and build healthy habits.

The walks will take place on the second Sunday of each month throughout 2026, starting on January 11.

People wishing to take part should meet at the Tameside Council car park on Darnton Road at 10am.

Clinical pharmacist Rikesh Mistry will be joining the group for the first walk.

Before each walk, participants will enjoy a short, accessible talk on a health topic, followed by a relaxed group walk at a comfortable pace. Routes are typically 2.5 to 5km, making them suitable for beginners and those returning to gentle activity.

There’s no pressure, no competition and no cost – just an opportunity to move more, learn something new and enjoy good company in the fresh air.

It’s free to register and you can sign up by clicking the RSVP button on this page: https://walkwithadoc.org/join-a-walk/locations/stalybridge-manchester/
