January savings on tap at Tameside’s Wetherspoons pubs

TWO town centre pubs in Tameside are hoping to draw customers through their doors this new year by cutting the cost of both food and drink.

The Ash Tree in Ashton-under-Lyne and The Society Rooms in Stalybridge are running a sale from Friday, January 2 until Thursday, January 15.

There will be a selection of discounted drinks and meals, aimed at tempting people out during a traditionally quiet month for the trade.

One of the more eye-catching offers is a pint of Worthington’s priced at 99p, while a number of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks have also been reduced for the duration of the promotion.

Wines and selected spirits are included, alongside a wide choice of low and alcohol-free options.

Food has also been added to the sale, with reduced prices on an 11-inch margherita pizza and a chicken burger, served with chips or side salad.

Standard jacket potatoes with a choice of filling are included, as well as three new “gourmet” versions featuring a range of meat and vegetarian toppings.

The Society Rooms manager Liza Braddock said the idea was to reflect the January sales seen across the high street.

“Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too,” she said.

“The range of drinks and food on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. We have included a large selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.

“I believe that the January Sale will prove popular with our customers. As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.”
