Traders invited to take up new kiosks at Ashton Market

INDEPENDENT businesses and traders are being invited to set up shop at Ashton Market as part of the regeneration of Market Square.

Tameside Council says there has already been strong interest in the new kiosks, but opportunities remain for food, drink and small retail businesses to get involved.

It’s open to established local traders looking to expand and people hoping to launch a new venture.

The kiosks are expected to host a mix of street food, drinks and independent retail, with the authority’s markets team keen to attract florists, artisan makers and gift sellers alongside food traders.

Expected to open in the spring, the units will sit at the heart of Market Square, in one of Ashton-under-Lyne’s most prominent public spaces.

As The Correspondent reported, the first of the new market kiosks were delivered to the site in November, marking a visible step forward in the wider redevelopment plans.

Manufactured by modular specialists WhiteCrate, the structures form part of a broader transformation of the square.

The redesigned space is intended to be flexible, accommodating not only market trading but also events, pop-ups and cultural activities, with the aim of increasing footfall and bringing new life to the town centre.

Business support will also be available to those taking on a kiosk, with advice on offer from Tameside Means Business and the GM Growth Hub team to help traders develop and grow their ideas.
