Residents, businesses and stakeholders across Tameside are being encouraged to have their say on the next phase of the borough’s Local Plan, known as Homes, Spaces and Places, as a new public consultation gets under way.
Hosted by Tameside Council, the Local Plan sets out how the borough will grow and develop over the next 15 years, up to 2042. It aims to balance the delivery of new homes and jobs with the protection of green spaces, while ensuring the right infrastructure is in place to support sustainable communities.
The online consultation is now open and builds on feedback gathered during the first two stages of engagement. It will be supported by a series of drop-in sessions taking place in every town across the borough over the coming weeks, giving residents the opportunity to view the draft plan, ask questions and share their views in person.
The draft Homes, Spaces and Places plan includes:
- Policies to guide development and protect valued areas
- Site allocations for housing and employment growth
- Measures to align growth with improvements to transport, schools and health services
- A strong focus on high-quality design and embedding low-carbon principles in future developments
Cllr McLaren, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Growth, Housing and Homelessness, said:
“Everyone’s voice in Tameside matters. This is your opportunity to shape the borough’s future and influence how it grows and thrives. We want to hear from as many people as possible to make sure our Local Plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our communities. Please take the time to get involved and have your say. Together, we can create vibrant neighbourhoods, thriving towns and spaces that work for everyone.”
