Teenager faces court over string of attempted burglary charges

A TEENAGER has appeared in court after being charged with 33 attempted burglaries across Tameside and Oldham.

Modou Jammeh faced the accusations following an investigation which arose from an arrest by a member of Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside neighbourhood crime team in Audenshaw on Tuesday, December 9.

Tameside Magistrates Court heard charges relating to incidents targeting residential properties in the Fitton Hill area of Oldham and the Denton and Ashton-under-Lyne areas of Tameside.

The 19-year-old, of no fixed abode, has been charged with 33 counts of attempted burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal – 12 in Tameside and 21 in Oldham.

Three counts of attempted burglary at property other than a dwelling, believed to have occurred in Tameside, were also heard on Thursday, December 11.

Jammeh, who appeared from custody, has also been charged with theft from a motor vehicle, theft, section 47 assault, possession of a Class B substance, fraud by false representation and possession of a bladed article.
