A POST office in Stalybridge is set to shut its doors for over two weeks for a major refurbishment.
The Post Office says the closure of the branch in Millbrook is necessary to allow “extensive building work” to safely take place.
The Huddersfield Road establishment will close at 5pm on Tuesday, December 30, with plans to reopen on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 8am.

Karl Haddon, Post Office’s Area Change Manager, said that customer safety is of paramount importance and apologised for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
He added that alternative branches will provide full services during the refurb – including at the Spar on Buckton Vale Road in Carrbrook and on Trinity Street in Stalybridge.
Details of opening times can be found at postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder.
Local MP Jonathan Reynolds encouraged anyone affected to get in touch if they need support during the temporary closure.
He said residents can email him at jonathan.reynolds.mp@parliament.uk or contact the Post Office directly via comments@postoffice.co.uk or 03452 66 01 15.
