TAMESIDE’S next generation of artists took centre stage as an Ashton-under-Lyne primary school celebrated the achievements of 60 pupils.
Canon Burrows recently hosted a special presentation for children who completed their Arts Award Discover programme.
It brought together families, teachers and local dignitaries to recognise the children’s creativity and hard work.

Among the guests were the Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor Shibley Alam, and ward councillors Vimal Choksi MBE, Sangita Patel and Dave Howarth.
The Year 3 cohort spent the term working with artist Caroline Coates to produce a series of colourful wall hangings crafted entirely from recycled materials.
Their pieces reflected themes of sustainability, reusing resources and caring for the environment – ideas the children explored during the project.
The Arts Award initiative, supported by Tameside Council’s Cultural and Community Safety Services in partnership with Arts Council England, aims to help young people develop as artists and arts leaders.
