STAFF at Yorkshire Building Society’s branch in Ashton-under-Lyne are helping to spread festive joy this winter.
They are collecting new toys and Christmas gifts for local children and young people, to support the Tameside Toy Appeal.
As we reported this week, the appeal run by charity Action Together together with Tameside Council has launched this year’s donation drive.

Supporting families struggling with the cost of living, the appeal aims to ensure that children living in poverty wake up to something special on Christmas morning.
Amanda Allwood, from Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We are proud to support Action Together’s Tameside Toy Appeal in our local community. We hope that our collection station goes to make a real difference to families in our community this Christmas time.”
Items can be dropped off at the Old Street branch until December 12 – with donations large or small gratefully received.
The branch is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 4.30pm; Wednesdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm; and Saturdays from 9am to midday.
