Nicole Webb and Dave Parrott, who run The King William IV on Ashton Road in Newton, were named ‘Best Centre of Excellence Operators’ at Craft Union Pub Company’s annual awards ceremony.

The accolade celebrates their exceptional contribution not only to running a thriving local pub but also to mentoring and training new operators across the UK, helping them build successful, community-led venues of their own.

From day one, Nicole and Dave are known for putting new operators at ease — providing detailed training packs, practical resources, and step-by-step guidance through documents and videos. Their enthusiasm for the pub trade and commitment to others have earned them widespread respect throughout Craft Union’s network.

What truly sets them apart is their ongoing support. Even after the initial training period, they stay in touch, visit pubs in person, and offer continued advice and encouragement to ensure new operators succeed.

Nicole said:

“We’re absolutely over the moon to win this award — it means the world to us. The King William IV is at the heart of our community, and we’re so proud to represent Hyde on a national stage. Helping new operators find their feet and watching them grow into confident, successful pub operators is really rewarding. We love what we do, and to be recognised for it is just incredible.”

Frazer Grimbleby, Craft Union’s Managing Director, added:

“Nicole and Dave are true ambassadors for what makes Craft Union special – passionate, community-focused, and always willing to help others. Their dedication, attention to detail and commitment to supporting new operators have set the benchmark for excellence across the business.”

The Craft Union Operator Awards take place annually to celebrate pub operators who go above and beyond for their communities, recognising those whose efforts make a lasting difference across the UK.
