Stalybridge streets bloom red as volunteers place Remembrance Poppies

STALYBRIDGE town centre has once again been brightened by a striking display of poppies, thanks to a group of volunteers who gathered on Saturday, October 25, to continue a much-loved local tradition.

The team spent the morning placing large red poppies on trees and lampposts throughout the town, marking the start of this year’s Remembrance commemorations.

Trees along Grosvenor Street, Melbourne Street and Armentières Square – key locations for the Remembrance Sunday parade on November 9, have been specially decorated ahead of the event.

What began as a small community effort has grown year by year, with more people getting involved to help decorate the streets and pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces.

Organisers say they are proud to see the display become an established part of the town’s Remembrance activities, bringing residents together in a shared act of respect and reflection.
