Superstar slimmer Sue inspires at Audenshaw group

A LOCAL Slimming World member has been hailed a “superstar” after transforming her health, confidence and lifestyle – and inspiring those around her along the way.

Sue Myers, who attends the Audenshaw group at Guide Bridge Theatre every Saturday, has shed more than two stone since joining – and says she feels “like a different person.”

She first decided to join after lockdown left her four stone heavier, living in leggings and baggy tops.

A bout of illness, including two hospital stays with bowel disease, meant she was determined to improve her diet and, crucially, increase her fibre intake.

Sue explained: “I didn’t know what to expect on my first day and it was daunting, but then I spotted someone I knew, and that helped me relax.

“Everyone in group made me feel welcome straight away – there’s no judgement, just support.”

That support, Sue says, has been the driving force behind her success.

The friendships forged within the group, from sharing recipe ideas to simply having a laugh together, have kept her motivated through the ups and downs of her weight loss journey.

Her efforts have already paid off in more ways than one. Not only is she two stone two-and-a-half pounds lighter, she is also enjoying the confidence to embrace a more active lifestyle.

“I joined the gym this week – something I never would have had the courage to do before losing weight,” Sue added.

The benefits have been felt in her day-to-day life too. Clothes now fit more comfortably, she feels better in herself and her social life remains lively, proving Slimming World is about balance, not restriction.

Sue is also a dab hand in the kitchen, with homemade favourites like chilli, Slimming World curry sauce with chicken, salt and pepper chips, and egg-fried rice all staples on her meal plan.

Looking back, she says Slimming World has changed not just her figure but her outlook:

She said: “It’s not daunting once you walk through the doors.

“Everyone is there for each other, and if you ever need help you can go on the Facebook page, use the app, or message a friend from group.

“You’re never on your own.”

Sue’s consultant, Jane Sigley, and fellow members say she is “a bundle of positivity,” always turning up with a smile and words of encouragement for others.

Her story is proof that steady steps can lead to big changes – and that with the right support, no-one’s journey has to be taken alone.

You can find Slimming world at Guide Bridge Theatre every Saturday at 8 and 9:30am.
