The Veg Lord gets Halloween ready with spooky tastings and family fun

DEEP in the forest at the mysteriously named Blood Curdle Cottage, Witchy Plum has been busy preparing a ghoulish spread for her undead guests.

But while she may be blessed with the dark arts, her culinary skills leave much to be desired – one burnt broth later and she’s forced to turn to Deliverboo, only to be told they don’t deliver to her haunted neck of the woods.

Rats!

But just when all hope seems lost, salvation comes in the form of a Phantom Post scroll pointing her towards a hidden gem in Mossley – The Veg Lord, based at Woodend Mill. With a magical midnight dash, her spooky supper is saved.

This fun tale is the backdrop for a brand-new Halloween short film made with the love, time and passion of friends and family. The video, which you can watch on YouTube, is helping spread the word about The Veg Lord’s upcoming programme of Halloween events.

The Mossley-based farm shop will be running four weeks of Halloween tastings starting on Saturday 4th October through to Sunday 26th October, giving visitors the chance to sample seasonal treats.

The celebrations will culminate in a Halloween Party on Saturday 25th October, with something for all the family – from spooky games for the kids and creepy face painting to food and drink sampling, a best-dressed competition and even a hamper giveaway.

In the spirit of community, the project was brought to life by a local team: Mark Leeming, Matthew Gilmartin, Chelsey Gilmartin, Robert Nicholson-Kershaw and Paul McErlean – all of whom played their part in conjuring up the seasonal magic.
